Remembering Prof. Samuel Olajide Owolabi

With deep sorrow, we inform you of the death of Prof. Samuel Olajide Owolabi which occurred on Saturday 19th May at a hospital in Dar es Salaam.

The late Prof. Owolabi was the Commonwealth Chair in Educational Planning at the Makerere University East African School of Higher Education Studies and Development. He was also the founding editor of the Makerere Journal of Higher Education


Celebrating Prof. Jethro Opolot

The former Dean School of Education and renowned teacher of Educational Psychology Prof. Jethro Opolot passed away on May 31. He was 79 years old.

Prof. Opolot served as the Head of Department, Psychology in 1976 -1990 and as the Dean School of Education from 1988- 1992. He retired from Makerere University in 2005.


Makerere University pays tribute to Prof. William Senteza Kajubi

The Makerere University community on Saturday 5th May 2012 paid tribute to Prof. William Senteza Kajubi a renowned scholar and two time vice chancellor of Makerere University.

Congratulations to our newest graduates

The College of Education and External Studies graduated its students on 16th, 17th and 20th January 2012 during the 62nd Makerere University graduation ceremony. Over 1430 students received their Diplomas, Bachelors, Masters and PhDs on 17th of January. Our Bachelor of Science External students graduated on 16th January and Bachelor of Commerce External graduated on 20th January. The colourful  ceremonies were presided over by the Chancellor Prof G. Mondo Kagonyera.


CLL's workshop on re-orientating upcountry Centre Coordinators

On 17th and 18th February 2012, the Centre for Lifelong Learning organized a workshop for its upcountry centre coordinators at Rest Gardens Hotel, Bweyogerere. The workshop was organized to offer participants an opportunity to appreciate recent developments in the University and to lay strategies to boost the programmes of the Centre country wide.

PANAF Research Agenda plays a role in government’s new initiative on Computer Science at A-level

Senior Information Scientist in the Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES), Mr Mukoyo Humphrey has announced that starting February 2012 Computer Science will be offered as a subsidiary subject at Alevel. This was during the Policy Dialogue on Pedagogical Integration of ICT in the Ugandan Education System organised by the Department of Adult and Community Education (DACE) on December 22 2011.


Partnering to Raise Awareness about Socially Stigmatized Diseases Across the Borders

Centre for Lifelong Learning (CLL), College of Education and External Studies (CEES) through it Golden Key International Honour Society (GKIHS) shall in December 2011 engage in a joint community intervention with its partners in the East African region namely Kenyan Paraplegic Organization (KPO), Maendeleo Foundation International and others to raise awareness among communities about diseases whose victims suffer from social stigma.

Admission Letters National Merit 2011/2012

The Office of the Academic Registrar Makerere University would like to inform the general public that admission letters for Government sponsored students on national merit will be available on 13th July 2011.

Students may pick their admission letters from the respective Colleges and Schools on the aforementioned dates.
