PEBL Project Team visits UNCHE to present a Quality Assurance Rubric for Blended/Online Learning.


On 14th Dec 2018, the VC represented by the DVC AA, Dr. Umar Kakumba, led the Partnership for Enhanced and Blended Learning (PEBL) Project Team to the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE) to present a Quality Assurance Rubric for Blended/Online Learning. The aim of the visit was to present the Rubric to the NCHE for adoption or adaption for national use.

Associate professor Paul Birevu Muyinda (PhD), Deputy Principal, Makerere University College of Education and External Studies attended SPHEIR Portfolio Workshop is going on in Nairobi from 1st to 5th Oct 2018 . Assoc Prof Paul Muyinda's stay in Nairobi is being funded by British Council to represent the six partners in the PEBL Project in the SPHEIR Portifolio Workshop

Principle CEES Led a team from CEES to Kenya

The College Principal, Prof. F. Masagazi-Masaazi led a team from CEES to the official Launch Ceremony of Pedagogical Leadership in Africa (Pedal). The team from CEES include Dr Sikoyo Leah and Dr. Kabugo David. The two will participate in the inception workshop for Padel for one week


The first Love Binti Training group graduates

On Saturday 28th July, 2018 the Department of Adult and Community Education conducted the first graduation of its Love Binti Project Trainees. A total of forty students were admitted for the June/July intake and a total of thirty-seven participants successfully completed the training leading to the award of Love Binti Certificate of Qualification.  The participants were drawn from a variety of walks of life intended to increase the impact of Love Binti Project activities.

on 12th July 2018, Associate Professor Paul Birevu Muyinda, Deputy Principal MakCEES was in Arusha. He was attending the second Meeting of the EPICA Project Cordinators.

Makerere University, OUT and Maseno University were sharing progress reports for the first 6 months of the project and planning the next 6 months.


Mr. Richard Kajumbula trains staff at the University of Rwanda in Kigali

The capacity that has been developed at Makerere University, College of Education and External Studies in transformative pedagogy is quite enormous.  Mr. Richard Kajumbula was at the University of Rwanda in Kigali on 12th July 2018 training University staff in Blended Learning pedagogy. Mr. Richard Kajumbula is from the Institute of Open Distance and eLearning, Makerere University.


MAKCEES holds the First International Conference on Open, Distance and E-learning Makerere University

College of Education and External Studies through its School of Distance and Lifelong learning, Institute of Open Distance and eLearning on the 9th to 10th July 2018 hosted its first international conference on Open Distance and E-learning in Makerere university main hall. It was a two days conference which was officially opened on Monday, 9th July 2017 by Dr. Eria Hisali, the Principal, College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS) on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe.
