Pre-conference Workshop on ePortifolio Assessment. 1st International Conference on Open Distance and E-learning at Makerere University.  Conference will take place on 9th and 10th July 2018 at Mak Main Hall.

The Pre-conference event is took place on Friday 6th July 2018 at Makerere University Lira Center. The Entire Fraternity is invited to the Conference on Monday at the Main Hall starting 8am.



MAKCEES Prof. Fred Masagazi-Masaazi led a team from University of Agder to Makerere VC Prof.Barnabas Nawangwe.

Today 5th July 2018, the Principal CEES, Prof. Fred Masagazi-Masaazi led a team from University of Agder headed by Rector Prof. Frank Reikert to pay a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor, Makerere University Prof.Barnabas Nawangwe.

The delegation is here to participate in the 1st International Conference on ODeL taking place on 9th and 10th July 2018. The team is also going to give public lectures on assessment and lifelong learning at CEES LIRA Center 2moro Friday 6th July 2018.


Makcees Love-Binti headway

The three weeks based curriculum to train students has kicked with a great preference. More than forty students have so far enrolled but the project can only take in forty trainees for the purposes of better learning environment. The enrollers have been divided in four cohorts. Cohort 1 runs Monday to Wednesday 9:00-1:00pm, cohort 2 runs Monday to Wednesday 2:00-5:00pm, cohort  3 runs Thursday to Saturday 9:00-1:00pm and cohort 4 runs Thursday  to Saturday 2:00-5:00pm. Each cohort holds ten participants.


MAKCEES launches Love-Binti project

CEES through the Department of Adult and Community Education, School of Distance and LIFELONG learning has entered into a partnership with an NGO from Taiwan, LOVE-Binti International to roll out the implementation of a reusable sanitary pads project in Makerere University and the surrounding communities. Different delegates attended the launch of this project which was on the 12th June 2018.


MAK-CEES Management solves Lira Study Centre challenges

On 13th December 2017, the College Management team visited Makerere University, Lira Study Centre in Lira District for a fact finding mission. The Team   was led by the College Principal Prof. Fred Masagazi-Masaazi.

MAK-CEES science teacher education laboratories receive new science equipment

The College of Education and External Studies (CEES) has this week on Monday, 4th June 2018 received science equipment for Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories from the Ministry of Education and Sports under the African Development Bank/ (HEST) project that is, the High Education Science and Technology project which has renovated the laboratories and is also responsible for setting up new lecture buildings at campus

CEES Principal hosted SFC Members from University of Glasgow

On 15th May 2018, the Principal CEES Prof. F. Masagazi-Masaazi hosted Sustainable Futures in Afica (SFC) Network members from University of Glasgow in United Kingdom who are having a collaborative engagement with the College Education and External Studies through its School of Distance and lifelong learning. The Sustainable Futures in Africa (SFA) Network is an interdisciplinary collective that brings together researchers, educators, and communities of practice that acknowledge the situated and complex nature of practices and conceptions of sustainability.

MAK-CEES Principal delegated by MAK-VC to open CODESRIA workshop 2018

On Monday 23rd April 2018, the Principal College of Education and External Studies, Prof. F. Masagazi-Masaazi was delegated by Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabus Nawangwe to open the two weeks CODESRIA workshop that that took place at Makerere University Senate Building Level 4 conference hall. The workshop attracted participants from Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana and Nigeria. The theme of the event was on the on the Role of Middle-level academics in University leadership.


Department of Adult and Community Education acquires motorized tailoring machines to boost students’ entrepreneurship

In the past few years, the Department of Adult and Community Education has intensified hands on skills training for its third year students to ensure students graduate with practical employable skills. This has been made possible through the course unit of Entrepreneurship Skills Development and Microfinance Management taught by Mr. Joseph Watuleke.
