TESSA-MOOC on Future Learn workshop

On 25th October 2017, DSTVE held TESSA (Teacher Education in Sub-Saharan Africa) workshop under TESSA Project.  The theme of the workshop was “Making Teacher Education Relevant for 21st Century Africa”.   In attaining the above, an online course has been introduced to help teacher’s use active learning and ICT in the classroom. The online course will start on Monday30th October 2017 and it will take 4 weeks. TESSA-Africa is an initiative of the Open University of UK that is sponsoring a four weeks online course on interactive teaching

Mak’s Distance Education to benefit from new ICTs

Makerere University staff and students now have access to new state of the art ICT teaching and learning facilities. The equipment was handed over by Prof. Andreas Prinze from the University of Agder during the Distance Education Leapfrogging Project (DELP) Annual Research workshop held on 15th June 2015 at the CEDAT Conference Hall.

CEES receives funding to change the face of Distance Education at Makerere University


College of Education and External Studies has been awarded a Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED) grant to help change the way the University runs its distance education mode.

Staff from the College’s Department of Open and Distance Learning were awarded a NORHED grant to leapfrog Makerere’s 1st generation distance education provision into 4th and 5th generation distance education mode.
